Our team has received several requests from property managers about connecting Tuya devices to their rental listings. Here we outline the steps to set up the keypads and connect your Tuya devices to Jervis Systems.
In terms of capabilities for the Tuya keypad, you can use it to trigger a magnetic door to open and close. Once the code is entered, this triggers the magnetic door to unlock.
The keypad can also be used to trigger commands to open and close garage doors and Jervis Systems offers a way to link them to SmartThings devices or garage doors (this specific feature will be coming soon to Jervis Systems).
Setting Up the Keypads
The way you set up your Tuya keypads depends on how the lock is configured and whether it is a latch (normally closed) or a magnetic lock (normally open).
Note: Since this setup requires an understanding of wiring the keypad, we encourage you to consult an electrician to be sure the wiring is done correctly so the electrical signal is sent to the lock to unlock.
The easiest way is to use a lock-specific power supply/controller and the Tuya lock instead of the scan or keypad access. The Tuya lock will close the circuit (like pushing the button) whenever the code is entered or the app is activated (unlocked) which opens the lock for about 5 seconds (which is configurable on the Wiegband controller).
Below is a sample diagram from the kits available on Amazon. You can purchase the kit and not use the keypad or purchase it in separate parts. From experience, we recommend purchasing the parts you need since most devices follow the same logic, and you can tailor the setup to your needs.
Note: Make sure to confirm the voltages. Tuya is 12V but may be variable up to 24V.

Does the Tuya keypad keep the codes even if it loses WiFi connectivity?
This is a common question. WiFi is only needed to program the codes. The lock keeps the codes and programmed fobs if it loses WiFi, and even if it loses power.
