Having Wi-Fi Connectivity Issues? Here’s How to Troubleshoot

At times, Wi-Fi connectivity for your smart locks and lock boxes may not always be the strongest, which can impact how SET® PINs are created and added to reservations and smart locks.

Connectivity issues can happen across lock vendors for a variety of reasons. Factors that affect signal quality and range include placement of the access point, size of the unit, number of floors, materials in the walls, and other Wi-Fi networks broadcasting in the area that may be on the same 2.4G channel.

To help understand connectivity levels, we recommend using our Wi-Fi Analyzer tool to gauge the strength of your Wi-Fi connection. Check out our guide here for more details and how to test from both Android and iOS.

Jervis Systems requires a Wi‑Fi connection to program and manage smart locks. While many locks will retain their codes if they go offline, Wi‑Fi is essential for creating or updating codes, running automations, and features like custom codes based on a guest’s phone number.

For best results, we recommend locks with built‑in Wi‑Fi or to improve coverage with a Wi‑Fi repeater.

A repeater is a good way to eliminate connectivity issues and make sure reservations are pushed and codes are added.

These are the repeaters that we recommend from Netgear and TP-Link. We’ve linked details for each on where you can purchase.

We recommend placing them closer to the router for a better signal. Generally, the repeaters will be able to get a good signal, even through walls.
