How to Set Up Captive Portal Settings for NETGEAR

You can pair your NETGEAR supported devices to set up Guest Wi-Fi in Jervis Systems.

This way, you can configure your guest network based on the reservations you import into Jervis. When your guest connects to your access point, they can access your internet by entering their last name and their door code.

During this process, you can specify what type of information your user needs to fill out from the portal page. This information can be checked on the Guest Wi-Fi Users page and downloaded as a CSV file from the marketing page.

Additionally, you can determine the URL to redirect to after login from the settings page. Your guest’s session will end after their checkout date, and they will no longer have access. More details are included in our guide here.

To set this up, first know that there are two ways to access the Netgear router console:

Local router management – Users connect to the same network as the router and access the router’s IP address directly via a browser. This is the most commonly used method.

Netgear Insight – A remote management system. Since it is a paid service, it is less frequently used. However, all the same settings can be applied just like in the local method, but in this case, it can be configured through the cloud.

If you would like us to perform the setup on your behalf, Netgear Insight must be enabled. In that case, we require you to answer a specific set of questions to complete the configuration properly. Those are included at the end of the guide.

How to Set Up Directly From Your Console

If you prefer to self-manage, you can access the router console and configure the system by followng the steps below. In this case, we are using the NETGEAR WAX610 as an example. Other NETGEAR router models will follow a similar workflow.

  1. First, you’ll need to access the router interface.
  • If your network does not have a DHCP server and the device IP has not been changed, the default router IP address is 192.168.0.100. Otherwise, use your own IP.
  • You can access the router interface by navigating to: https://192.168.0.100/
  • If you encounter an SSL certificate warning, click “Continue” to ignore it.
  1. Login with your router credentials.
